How long on job: 5 1/2 years. I first learned to scuba dive when I was 12 years old, but got my scuba certification here at Weeki Wachee Spring.
What my job is: I have lots of different things to do. I am a mermaid and swim in the shows. Sometimes I am the announcer for the show. Sometimes I narrate the Bird of Prey shows. I play music. I train others.
What I like best about my job: Swimming in the spring as a mermaid.
What don't like most about my job: The water temperature.
Advice for kids who would like a job like mine: Swim and exercise. Get into shape. It can take from 1 to 3 months to learn to be a mermaid. The more physically fit you are when you start, the better.
